Your Data

Updated on: 3 May 2026

A companion to our Privacy Policy, setting out how your data is handled at every layer of the Alex stack and how those commitments are verified.

1. Your data, handled with care

Alex is built on a foundation of contractual data protection at every layer of the stack. Your prompts and responses are processed by Anthropic’s Claude models under commercial terms that prohibit their use for training. Auxiliary tasks routed to Google’s Gemini API operate under similar terms. The routing layer between Alex and these models stores nothing. Where document processing requires specialist tools, we use providers that offer Zero Data Retention upgrades, and we apply them where the work calls for it.

2. The discipline behind the commitments

What we think makes Alex different is not these commitments themselves — many tools claim something similar — but the discipline behind them. We verify each provider’s contract from primary source. We document the specific terms in force on our account. We name where a contract is implicit rather than explicit. And we re-check the chain on a regular cadence, treating provider terms as something to be audited rather than assumed.

3. The detail, on request

For customers who want the detail, we maintain client-facing data protection notes that cite each source by URL and describe each provider’s posture honestly, including where any default contract is weaker than peers and where a paid upgrade closes the gap. We would rather have the awkward conversation upfront than discover that a concern was sitting unspoken in the background.
